Learnıng Teachers: An ın-servıce Traınıng Program for ELT Teachers

ÖĞRENEN ÖĞRETMENLER

Pek çok öğretmenin “öğretmenliği, öğretmenliğe başladıktan sonra öğrendim” dediğine çoğumuz şahit olmuşuzdur. Bu bize hem deneyimin hem de sürekli mesleki eğitimin önemini gösterir. Mesleki gelişim olmaksızın kaç yıllık tecrübe olursa olsun etkili öğretmen olunamayacağı herkesce kabul edilen bir gerçektir. Bu, İngilizce öğretmenleri için de geçerlidir. İşte tam da bu nedenle İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi, Sürekli Eğitim Merkezi ilk ve orta öğretim kademelerinde görev yapan İngilizce öğretmenleri için kaçırılmaz bir fırsat sunuyor. Merkez tarafından, öğretmenlerin mesleki gelişimine katkı sağlayarak, İngilizce derlerinin daha etkili kılınmasını amaçlayan 3 modülden oluşan, 60 saatlik bir program hazırlandı. Derslerin daha öğrenci merkezli, etkileşimsel ve iletişimsel olmasını hedefleyen programda:

adlı üç modül ilgilenen öğretmenleri bekliyor.

This in-service Training Program for ELT Teachers aims at equipping English language teachers working at K12 level with skills required to conduct their lessons more effectively and efficiently. The program will be 60 hours divided into three modules:

Module 1: Teaching Skills

This module focuses on giving the participant ELT teachers practical ideas about teaching four main language skills, and integrated skills as well as the language aspects such as grammar and pronunciation. The module ultimately aims at getting the teachers to engage their learners in their lessons by being involved in interactive and communicative activities and tasks.

Module 2: Assessment

The second module will focus on the main principles of language assessment. The module will cover topics such as; formative and summative assessments, assessment tools and tasks, testing productive and receptive skills, and designing rubrics.

Module 3: Designing and Managing the 21st Century Classroom

The purpose of this module is to help teachers internalize the skills and knowledge of 21st century skills both as an individual and professional to help their students in the generation of Z. The module will focus on student engagement using critical, creative, and problem-solving thinking skills; effective classroom management approaches; and effective use of instructional technologies in and outside the classroom.
